Kryptonite has come up with a special fitting that is attached to the shackle itself. It in no way helps in the security of the lock, but rather helps one quickly mount and dismount the lock from the bike during transportation.
The EZ Mount comes with a strip of rubber that helps keep the EZ Mount from slipping around whichever tube you attach it to, and the special fitting keeps the lock straight while you're riding, which is a problem with some other tube mounting systems.
